A double wager linking the Aug. 28 Travers Stakes (gr. I) with the following day’s Personal Ensign (gr. I) will be offered at Saratoga. The Travers-Personal Ensign double will require bettors to correctly select the winners of both races on one ticket.
Also being offered by the New York Racing Association on Travers Day is a $1 million "All-Graded Stakes Late Pick 4," combining the Travers; the King’s Bishop and Ballerina, both grade I; and the Victory Ride Stakes (gr. III). By guaranteeing the wager, NYRA will supplement the net difference if the total pool is less than $1 million.
The Travers is expected to draw Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Super Saver , Jim Dandy (gr. II) winner A Little Warm, and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) runner-up First Dude . Possible starters include Derby runner-up Ice Box , Belmont Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Fly Down, Jim Dandy runner-up Miner's Reserve, and IZOD Haskell Invitational (gr. I) runner-up Trappe Shot .
The Personal Ensign is headed by 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, who is expected to face a field that includes Life At Ten, winner of six straight races, including the Ogden Phipps Handicap (gr. I) at Belmont Park.
