Barretts has cataloged 241 horses for the second annual California Cup yearling sale. The number is down 14.5% from last year’s total of 282.

The auction will be held Oct. 12 and 13 in  Barretts' Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park in Southern California.

Stallions with offspring in the catalog include Bertrando  , Elusive Quality  , Exchange Rate  , Giant’s Causeway, Henny Hughes  , In Excess, Latent Heat  , Northern Afleet  , Officer, Quiet American  , Roman Ruler  , Salt Lake, Stormy Atlantic  , Tapit  , Unusual Heat, and Yes It's True  .

The auction’s opening session Oct. 12 will be preceded by the complete dispersal of the West Coast breeding stock owned by Pam and Martin Wygod. Their River Edge Farm will consign the 61 mares and 35 foals of 2010 as agent. The dispersal will begin at 3 p.m. (PDT).

The Wygods announced they were dispersing their California breeding stock and selling River Edge earlier this year. They said they would focus in the future on breeding and raising horses in Kentucky.

Catalogs for both the dispersal and the California Cup yearling sale can be viewed on the Barretts website (www.barretts.com).
