Central Kentucky stallion Mingun, a half brother to major sire Kingmambo, has been sold to a group of Danish breeders to stand at York Stud in Denmark, according to the Racing Post.
A 10-year-old son of A.P. Indy out of international champion Miesque (by Nureyev), Mingun formerly stood alongside Kingmambo at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky., where he entered stud in 2006. Mingun has sired 25 winners from 51 starters, including Gunner, winner of this year’s Governor’s Stakes on turf. Mingun also is the sire of two stakes-placed runners in 2010.
Mingun raced as a homebred for the Niarchos family, winning or placing in five of eight races and earning $208,818. At 3, he won two stakes, including the Meld Stakes (Ire-III).
