Songandaprayer Filly Shines at Lousiana Sale

A Songandaprayer   weanling filly and a Lydgate yearling filly each brought $8,000 to share the honor for the highest-priced horse sold during the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Sales Co.’s summer mixed auction Aug. 8 in Lafayette, La.

William Pickett purchased the chestnut weanling, which is the first foal out of the winning Grand Slam mare All American Miz. Pickett Thoroughbreds, agent, consigned the filly.

Michael Mouton bought the dark bay or brown yearling, which is a half sister to stakes winner There Goes Rocket (by Valid Expectations). They are out of the winning Carr de Naskra mare Carr Star. Red River Farm, agent, consigned the filly.

The auction’s results included a gross of $182,300 for the 136 horses that sold. The average price was $1,340, and the median price was $700. The buy-back rate was 17.1%.
