The race for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on dirt drew a field of six. Post time is slated for 5:43 p.m. EDT. Seeking the Title and No Such Word will both carry top weight of 122 pounds. The Continental Mile for 2-year-olds on the turf is also on the 12-race Monmouth program.
Charles Fipke’s homebred Seeking the Title, a daughter of Seeking the Gold—Title Seeker, by Monarchos, won the Iowa Oaks (gr. III) two races back on June 26 at Prairie Meadows before finishing fifth last out in Saratoga’s Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I) at Saratoga. Unraced as a juvenile, Seeking the Title is 2-0-1 from seven starts this season for trainer Dallas Stewart. Julien Leparoux has the mount.
Brereton Jones’ homebred No Such Word, by Canadian Frontier—Muskoka Ice, by It’s Freezing, scored her graded stakes victory in the Honeybee (gr. III) at Oaklawn March 13 and was runner-up in the Black-Eyed Susan (gr. II) two starts later. She enters the Monmouth Oaks off a fourth-place finish in the July 10 Delaware Oaks (gr. II), where she was beaten less than three lengths by division leader Blind Luck.
Overall, No Such Word is 4-1-2 from 12 starts. Jockey Terry Thompson will ride for trainer Cindy Jones.
A local contender making her graded stakes debut is Patriotic Viva, who will walk over from the Elkwood section of the Monmouth Park barn. Trained by Patrick Biancone, Patriotic Diva was an easy wire-to-wire winner of the Serena’s Song Stakes, Monmouth’s prep for the Oaks July 17. Joe Bravo has the call.
