Sean and Barbara Kelly announced that an agreement has been reached to lease grade II winner Golden Gear and stand him at their Wycombe House Stud near Reddick Fla. Ten-year-old Golden Gear stood the 2001 season for Barry Golden and Morven Stud at Dr. and Mrs. John Chandler's Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington.

Golden Gear (Gulch--Fineza, by Lypheor) is the sire of 2001 stakes winners Ginger Gold and Wild Gear. The former won a division of the Sept. 8 Natalma Stakes (Can-IIIT) at Woodbine.

Golden Gear who won a dozen of 26 starts and earned $634,009, ranks eighth on this year's sires of 2-year-olds list by progeny earnings. He will stand for $6,000 in 2002.
