Fire Slam's First Winner Scores at Woodbine

Grade II winner Fire Slam   came through with his first winner when his son Givemesixsteps won at Woodbine July 30. Racing for Martha K. Gonzalez, Givemesixsteps captured the 5 1/2-furlong race by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:06.36 (VIDEO).

Eugene Melnyk is the breeder of Ontario-bred Givemesixsteps, who is the first winner from the Polish Numbers mare Boscobelle.

Fire Slam (Grand Slam  —Miss Firefly, by Salt Lake) stands at Michele Rodriguez and Lee Daniel Thomas’ Elite Thoroughbreds near Folsom, La. His 2010 fee was $2,500.
