Fasig-Tipton Texas Sale Has 363 Yearlings

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 363 horses for its Texas yearling sale, which is scheduled for Aug. 30, beginning at 10 a.m. (CDT), at Lone Star Park. The number is down only 1.9% from last year’s total of 370.

Stallions with offspring in the auction include Afleet Alex  , Awesome Again  , Birdstone  , Bluegrass Cat, Candy Ride  , Hard Spun  , Invasor  , Stormy Atlantic  , Tiznow  , Tale of the Cat  , Valid Expectations  , and Yes It's True  .

During the 2009 edition of the sale, the 185 yearlings that sold grossed $1,889,400 and averaged $10,213. The median price was $5,000. Compared to the previous year, when 281 horses were sold, the gross fell 44% while the average declined 14.8%. The median rose 10%.

The buy-back rate increased from 36.6% in 2008 to 42% in 2009.
