Sandy Downs in Idaho is experimenting with live video streaming and online wagering through IdaBet.com, the only advance deposit wagering system based in Idaho.

The July 16-17 programs, which begin at 6 p.m. MDT, feature Idaho Cup Quarter Horse racing.

“We have worked very hard to get our racing from Sandy Downs on the Internet so fans from not only the Intermountain West but from all over the North America will have the opportunity to  wager and view all the races live via video streaming,” Hugh Mellon of IdaBet.com said in a statement.

The races will be broadcast at www.idabet.com.

Mellon said any wagers by Idaho residents through IdaBet.com are treated as ontrack wagers.

“Idabet.com is the only ADW based in Idaho,” Mellon said, “and by being home-based in the state and treating every wager made from an Idaho account as a live wager, we can insure that the horsemen, breeders, the state, and the schools all receive their fare share of the wagering dollar. We will also be able to reach fans that may live too far away to make it to the live track on a regular basis.”

IdaBet.com was specifically created to fund purses for live racing in Idaho. Sandy Downs, located in Idaho Falls is the only track in the state that offers more than 10 days of live racing. It has increased live dates from eight to 17.
