Generous Rosi Earns First American Stakes Win at Turfway

English group III stakes winner Generous Rosi earned his first American stakes win in Saturday's $82,500 Turfway Park Fall Championship Stakes (gr. III). Under Lonnie Meche, the 6-year-old son of Generous led all the way to complete the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.83, winning by four lengths on the fast track.

Storm Day, the 8-5 favorite, finished second, two lengths clear of Jadada, who launched an unsuccessful bid after an opening half-mile run in :47.47. Tiltam, Connected, and Advanced Edition completed the order of finish.

Generous Rosi returned $10, $3.40, and $2.60 and led an exacta worth $22. Storm Day paid $3.40 and $2.40. Jadada was worth $2.60 to show.

Generous Rosi earned $46,500 for the win, his fifth in 29 career starts. As a 4-year-old, he won the Marriott Hotels Gordon Richard Stakes (Eng-III), the Magnolia Stakes, and finished second in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Eng-III). Generous Rosi is owned by trainer Niall M. O'Callaghan and Flying Column Stable and was bred in Great Britain by Addison Racing Ltd. (Chart, Equibase)
