A failed alcohol breath test at Canada’s Woodbine Racetrack on July 1 proved costly to jockey Kent Desormeaux, whose scheduled mount Hold Me Back   won the $216,400 Dominion Day Handicap (Can-III) under replacement rider Tyler Pizarro.

According to the stewards’ ruling, Desormeaux was suspended for one day, July 1, and fined $100 "for providing a breath analysis sample in excess of the allowable limit (.020 milligrams of alcohol in .100 milliliters of blood)."

Trained by Bill Mott for WinStar Farm, Hold Me Back snapped a seven-race losing streak dating back to the 2009 Lane’s End Stakes (gr. II) with the Dominion Day victory. The son of Giant's Causeway   earned $120,000 for the win.

Hold Me Back was the only scheduled mount for Desormeaux on the Woodbine holiday card.
