On the night Indiana Downs hosted its richest Thoroughbred added-money event of the 2010 race meet, the $200,000 Oliver Stakes, the track shattered its betting records. The most money ever was wagered June 30 on a single race, $379,220, and on a single race card, $2,140,490. The previous marks were $294,674 and $1,836,216, respectively.
 
“This is exactly how it’s supposed to work on the racing side.  Higher purses bring higher quality racing—horses, riders, and trainers—and they are coming from all over the country,” said Indiana Downs general manager Jon Schuster. “And our local horsemen are stepping up and delivering every day, too.” 

The Oliver Stakes, which was the feature event on the 10-race card, was won by Mister Marti Gras. The 3-year-old chestnut gelding returned $41.80 for each $2 win ticket.  Mister Marti Gras is owned by Lothenbach Stables, trained by Chris Block, and was ridden by Eduardo Perez.
