Yonaguska Tops Sanford Field

Michael Tabor's Yonaguska, a $1.95-million purchase at this year's Fasig-Tipton Florida 2-year-old sin training sale, heads the seven-horse field for Thursday's $100,000 Sanford Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga. Trained by Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas, Yonaguska will be seeking his third win from as many starts in the Sanford, a steppingstone to the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) on Sept. 2. Lukas will also saddle Robert C. Baker's Scorpion in the Sanford, which the trainer has won a record five times.
