Thoroughbred owner Tracy Farmer said he will donate 5% of the purse earnings of his star handicap horse, Albert the Great, from the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) and Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) to the NTRA Charities -- New York Heroes Fund. The Oct. 6 Gold Cup carries a $1 million purse and the Oct. 27 Classic is worth $4 million...Fair Grounds Race Course announced it is donating $10,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and is accepting donations from patrons at the track and 11 Finish Line off-track betting facilities...Patrick Brown has been named director of business development at Broodmares.com, an online marketplace for Thoroughbred broodmares. Brown will oversee the growth and improvements in the site.
