Lookin At Lucky , winner of the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), missed a week’s training after coming down with a slight fever, which raises the question of whether he will be able to make the $1 million Izod Haskell Invitational (gr. I) Aug. 1.
Trainer Bob Baffert also has Concord Point , winner of the June 26
“Whoever is doing better goes to the Haskell,” Baffert said. “Lucky is barely going to make the race with this setback, but it’s possible we could run both. Lucky is OK now, but at this point, I have no idea.”
Baffert said earlier on “At the Races With Steve Byk” June 28 that Lookin At Lucky came down with a slight temperature after a bug went through his barn at Santa Anita.
“He’s going back to the track tomorrow (Tuesday) after missing about eight days, and if I can get a work in him next week we should be OK,” Baffert said. “He had a real good work the other day, and one thing about him, it doesn’t take a whole lot to get him ready.”
