Jockey Emerson Chavez was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center for further examination as a precaution after he sustained a head injury in the gate as the horses were loading for the eighth race at Lone Star Park on June 20.
According to a release from Lone Star Park, Chavez was injured when his mount Gilded Girl Style became fractious in the gate and had to be scratched. He was conscious and alert when he was transported by ambulance from Lone Star Park.
