Vannacide, a 9-year old mare by Slewacide, received Colorado Horse of the Year honors from the Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders Association at Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colo. June 12.
Owned and bred by Bill Vanlandingham, Vannacide's 2009 earnings reached $57,915, making his lifetime earnings $245,162.
Trained by Kenneth Gleason throughout her career, Vannacide also was named champion older mare. She is out of the Prosperantes mare Anna Leigh.
Top stallion honors were awarded to Oliver’s Twist for the third consecutive year, with 2009 progeny earnings of $175,447. He stands at Linda Wood’s Menoken Farms.
Willard Burbach took top breeder honors with '09 earnings of $133,135.
