Marju, sire of 2010 Irish mile classic winner Bethrah, has come down with laminitis and has been taken out of stud service at Derrinstown Stud in Ireland.
“Marju recently developed a bout of laminitis and unfortunately we have had to rest him for the remainder of the 2010 breeding season,” according to farm general manager Stephen Collins. “He is receiving veterinary treatment, and his condition has now stabilized. He is in remarkably good spirits for a horse of his age and is proving to be an excellent patient.”
A 22-year-old son of Last Tycoon, Marju has sired more than 50 stakes winners, including numerous champions. On May 23. Bethrah won the Etihad Airways Irish One Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) for her third win in as many starts this year. She prepped for the race with a triumph in the Derrinstown Stud One Thousand Guineas Trial (Ire-III).
Marju is out of Irish and English group winner Flame of Tara (by Artaius).
