WinStar Farm announced the winner of its "Super Name Sweepstakes" in honor of 2010 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Super Saver May 21. The winning name selected from nearly 9,000 entered by racing fans: Superfection

The winning entry, Superfection, as selected by WinStar Farm, will become the official name of the colt, which The Jockey Club approved May 19. The winning fan, Carroll Mayfield of Memphis, Tenn., not only gets the distinction of picking the winning name, but he also receives a $100 gift certificate to the WinStar Farm online store. The colt, born April 11, is sired by Medaglia d'Oro   and is out of the A.P. Indy mare Supercharger.
 
Two other fans, selected at random from the entries, will receive gift certificates to the WinStar Farm online store. Barbara Learned is the second-place finisher and will receive a $50 gift certificate.  The third-place finisher is Gerald Zebell and he will receive a $25 gift certificate. 
 
“This contest allowed racing fans everywhere to participate in an incredibly unique way with WinStar Farm in naming one of our treasured colts,” stated Doug Cauthen, president of WinStar Farm. “This was a very difficult task for us in selecting the best name from the thousands of entries. We learned that there are a lot of passionate horse racing fans with a ton of creativity.
