Photographer Barbara Livingston’s Horses: In Living Color has won an Independent Publisher Book Awards gold medal. More than 2,000 authors and publishers participated in the prestigious awards that recognize the work of independent authors and publishers.
Best known for her Thoroughbred racing photography, Livingston displays a new dimension in Horses: In Living Color. She traveled across North America in search of uniquely colored equines, and her collection of more than 175 photos portrays subjects ranging from paint-colored miniature horses and white Thoroughbreds to majestic Friesians and the rare spotted Knabstrupper.
These photos “celebrate the captivating and sometimes shocking world of colorful horses,” Livingston wrote in her foreword.
Horses: In Living Color is Livingston’s fifth collaboration with Eclipse Press, the book division of Blood-Horse Publications. Her work also has been featured in four previous books: Four Seasons of Racing, Old Friends, More Old Friends, and Barbara Livingston’s Saratoga.
Livingston is a two-time winner of the Eclipse Award for photography. She is a photographer for Daily Racing Form, and her work has appeared on the covers of numerous books and magazines.
