Bert Welker and Clark Shepherd have partnered to form Allied Bloodstock, a full-service Thoroughbred bloodstock operation located in Lexington.

Welker and Shepherd are third- and second-generation horsemen, respectively, with several years of experience ranging from pedigree/mating consulting to on-track racehorse management. Both took a turn managing Audrey Haisfield's Stonewall Farm Stallions near Versailles, Ky.

“We want to assist our clients in their decisions from start to finish,” Welker said. “Getting back to the basics of breeding and developing good racehorses through proper matings and good horsemanship is key.”

Among the areas Allied Bloodstock will specialize in are sales, breeding, and consultation.

“Bert and I have a strong passion and commitment for this ever-changing industry,” Shepherd said. “We look forward to implementing new strategies with our consignments in areas we have been unsatisfied with before as sellers.”

Welker added: “Clark and I have worked together and enjoyed some great success. We complement each other very well. Both of us bring to the table the proper experience and understanding of the inner workings to the many sides of bloodstock business.”

Allied Bloodstock will make its debut as consignor at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling sale.

“We have some very good yearlings for July and September, but we plan to make a strong push for the upcoming breeding stock sales,” Shepherd said.
