Jockey Rafael Bejarano won with five of his seven mounts at Hollywood Park May 12 to take over the lead in the track's rider standings as the meet began its third week.

Continuing a hot streak that began on May 2, the 27-year-old Bejarano recorded the second five-bagger of his career at Hollywood Park. The other five-win day came on April 25, 2009.

Bejarano, who has won eight riding titles since he made California his base in 2007, increased his total through 14 days to 23 wins, three more than Tyler Baze. The native of Arequipa, Peru, has won with 19 of his last 44 mounts. He’s had seven consecutive multiple-win days.

After sitting out the first race, Bejarano won the second with Super Sophie ($3.20), then swept the fourth, fifth, and sixth with Gotham Devil ($8.80), Camp Victory ($7.40), and Candy Lion ($4). He capped his day in the eighth with Sweet Hanni ($4.40).
