Mark Frostad, who has saddled four Queen’s Plate winners, is among 15 nominees from Thoroughbred racing that are on the ballot for induction into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, it was announced May 3. The induction ceremonies will be held Aug. 19.
In addition to Frostad, the nominees in the jockeys/trainers category are Sovereign Award and Eclipse Award winning jockey Mickey Walls and Frank Barroby, an ex-jockey and British Columbia Hall of Fame trainer.
Tammy Samuel Balaz, Mel Lawson, and Aubrey Minshall are nominated in the builders category.
Thoroughbreds nominated in the male category include two upset winners of the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), Touch Gold and Victory Gallop, along with Formal Gold.
Thoroughbreds nominated in the female category are Lady Angela, Square Angel, and Apelia.
Thoroughbreds nominated in the veterans category are Loudrangle, Play the King, and Victorian Era.
