For the second time in seven weeks, 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra lost a stretch duel when Unrivaled Belle outfought her to post a 9-1 upset over the prohibitive favorite in the $400,000 La Troienne Stakes (gr. II) on Kentucky Oaks day at Churchill Downs April 30.
Kent Desormeaux drove Unrivaled Belle to victory in the 1 1/16-mile event for trainer Bill Mott and owners Peter Vegso and Gary Seidler. The daughter of Unbridled's Song --Queenie Belle, by Bertrando, posted her fifth lifetime win in eight starts.
