Homeboykris breezed a half-mile in :48 2/5 at Churchill Downs April 28 as he continued to work up to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

The son of Roman Ruler   trained by Rick Dutrow was timed in fractional splits of :11 4/5, :23 4/5, and :35 2/5. He galloped out five furlongs in 1:02 1/5.

Bred in Maryland by Dark Hollow Farm and William Paca Beatson, Homeboykris races for a partnership that includes Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre.

Homeboykris will be racing for the first time since finishing second in a Feb. 27 allowance contest at Gulfstream. In his only other start of the season, he was fifth in the Jan. 23 Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III). Homeboykris banked nearly all of his $250,500 in graded earnings by winning the Champagne Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park as a 2-year-old.

The gelding has won two of six starts, with earnings of $274,730.
