WinStar Farm freshman stallion Bluegrass Cat   picked up his first winner April 23 in a $50,000 maiden special weight over four and half furlongs at Keeneland (VIDEO). Bluegrass Cat has had three starters to date.

The winner is a dark brown or bay filly named Bluegrass Phenom, who wired the field in :45.73 against seven other challengers. She is trained by Tom Amoss and was ridden by James Graham.

Bluegrass Phenom was bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds and is owned by Bill Hayes, who bought the filly for $75,000 at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling sale. The filly is out of the Rubiano mare Reboot.

Bluegrass Cat became a grade I winner in the Haskell Invitational Stakes and was three times grade I stakes-placed, including a second in the 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands. He also won the Remsen Stakes (gr. II) and the Nashua Stakes (gr. III). Bluegrass Cat stands for $25,000.
