Melbourne Cup Winner Viewed Dead

Viewed, the 2008 Emirates Melbourne Cup (Aust-I) winner, died of a twisted bowel on April 17, according to smk.com.au.

“Bart and [owner Dato Tan] Chin Nam were very upset,” said Duncan Ramage, who has been Dato Tan's racing manager for 28 years.

Viewed gave trainer Bart Cummings his 12th Melbourne Cup and helped to make Dato Chin Nam the most successful owner in the history of the Big One.

Foaled in 2003, Viewed (Scenic—Lovers Knot, by Khozaam) was voted 2009 champion stayer. His other big win during his career came in the BMW Caulfield Cup (Aust-I).

Viewed earned AUST$6,006,530 (US$4,615,358).
