Calder Casino & Race Course will be the first casino in Florida to offer a Kentucky Derby themed slot machine and will be the only Florida casino to offer the game on Derby Day.
Like the flagship track in Louisville that hosts America’s premier race, Calder is owned by Churchill Downs Inc.
According to a release from Calder, the Kentucky Derby slot machine is expected to be installed and operational by April 23. A "formal celebration of the game" is scheduled for Derby Day, May 1, when Calder also hosts what the track calls "Florida’s biggest Derby party." Included in the Derby party promotion will be distribution of horseshoes to patrons playing the Derby slot machine.
The new Derby slot machine provides players with a choice of two base games: Oaks Day and Run for the Roses. In the bonus round players will race for a four-level interactive jackpot.
