Siphon, a Brazilian group I winner who stands at stud in Pennsylvania, is scheduled to be returned to his native Brazil for stallion duty following the Northern Hemisphere breeding season. The deal, which has not been completed, calls for Siphon to stand at Haras Bage do Sul.

Siphon, who stands for $3,500 at Dr. William Solomon’s Pin Oak Lane Farm near New Freedom, Pa., has sired 14 stakes winners, including United States grade I winners Siphonic and I’m the Tiger and other graded winners Delosvientos, Sharp Impact, Siphonizer, Siphon City, and Z Fortune. His runners have earned $16.5 million.

Foaled in 1991, Siphon (Itajara—Ebrea, by Kublai Khan) scored major wins in the Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I) and the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I). He was third when Dare and Go ended Cigar’s 16-race win streak in the 1996 Pacific Classic Stakes (gr. I).
