HRTV will offer on-site covering at Oaklawn Park for a big weekend of racing at Oaklawn Park, featuring the undefeated Zenyatta in the $500,000 Apple Blossom (gr. I) on April 9, and the $1 million Arkansas Derby (gr. I), a key prep race for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands, on April 10.
HRTV’s Aaron Vercruysse and Zoe Cadman will be live at Oaklawn on April 10, offering reports and late-breaking information as Zenyatta looks to remain unbeaten when she faces four other fillies and mares in the Apple Blossom. The race will be shown live by HRTV with post time set for 6:25 p.m. CST.
“Zenyatta is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in Thoroughbred racing in the last 10 years. It has been HRTV’s pleasure to bring not only her races, but the spectacle surrounding them to our viewers for most of her career,” said HRTV’s executive producer Amy J. Zimmerman.
The commentators will also offer up-to-date information on the next day’s Arkansas Derby. HRTV’s pre- and post-race coverage of the race will complement NBC Sports’ live coverage of the race, which is part of Churchill Downs’ "Road to the Kentucky Derby," in conjunction with NBC. Programming begins at 5 p.m. EST on April 10. HRTV will air the Arkansas Derby on tape-delay.
Jill Byrne and Daily Racing Form’s Jay Privman will also contribute to comprehensive coverage.
