Redoute's Choice Colt Easter Sale Star

A Redoute's Choice   colt out of the Manila mare Asian Reef topped the second session of the William Inglis & Son Easter yearling sale in Australia, bringing Aust$1.2 million ($1,109,000 in U.S. funds) April 7. James Bester Bloodstock purchased him from Kitchwin Hills.

The bay colt is a half-brother to Bon Hoffa (by Belong to Me  ), who captured the 2007 Sir Rupert Clarke Invitation Stakes (Aust-I); Before Too Long (by Belong to Me), who scored in the 2002 Champagne Stakes (Aust-II), and another Australian added-money winner, Okanui (by Barathea).

“This horse has an incredible hind leg action and beautiful floating action in front,” said Bester of the Redoute’s Choice colt. “I don’t buy them if they don’t have that. He is as complete a colt as I have seen. He has a mother who produced a group I winner and a course-record-breaking group II winner by a bread-and-butter sire. What can she do with Redoute’s Choice?”

The second session results included a gross of Aust$28,077,500 ($25,949,400) for the 128 yearlings that sold. The average price was Aust$219,355 ($202,700), and the median price was Aust$170,000 ($157,100). The buy-back rate was 28.1%, with 50 of the 178 yearlings offered failing to find new homes.
