Sincerely earned her first graded stakes win Saturday at Delaware Park, winning the $250,000 Delaware Oaks (gr. III) by 3/4 lengths over Trip. Jockey Michael McCarthy guided the third wagering choice in the five-horse field to victory. Sincerely stopped the clock after running 1 1/16 miles over a fast track in 1:43.83.
Sincerely sat just behind pacesetter Valleydar and slowly cleared that rival in the stretch before holding off Trip's late run. Trip finished second, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Valleydar. Well Dressed was fourth, followed by Lady Melesi.
Sincerely earned $150,000 for owner R. Larry Johnson with the win, her sixth in 11 starts. The 3-year-old filly by Meadowlake was bred in Kentucky by John Crook and is trained by Graham Motion. She won the listed Go for Wand Stakes at Delaware Park in May after winning Pimlico's Smart Halo Stakes in April. She has since finished second to Valleydar in the $75,000 Susan's Girl Stakes, at Delaware Park.
The winner returned $9.20, $3.60, and $2.60. Trip paid $3 and $2.20. Valleydar was worth $2.60 to show. The winning exacta combination paid $28. (Chart, Equibase
