2008 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year - Vertigineux

Vertigineux, the 2008 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year, produced a Kentucky-bred filly by Henrythenavigator March 4. Henrythenavigator stands at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky.

The breeders of the filly are Orpendale, Chelston and Wynatt.

The newborn is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including unbeaten two-time champion Zenyatta and multiple grade I winner Balance. Zenyatta, by Street Cry, extended her win streak to 15 when she won the March 13 Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap (gr. I) at Santa Anita.

Vertigineux (Kris S.--For the Flag, by Forli) was owned by Eric Kronfeld’s Maverick Productions before she privately was sold in the first part of last year.
