Sam Gordon has been elected to his sixth one-year term as president of the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association.

The Florida HBPA board of directors elects the president. Gordon’s selection was unanimous, according to a March 25 release from the horsemen’s group.

Florida HBPA membership elected five individuals to the 15-member board. Owners Phil Combest and William Wright were re-elected to three-year-terms. Owner Tom Cannell was elected to his first three-year-term on the board.

Trainers Rosemary Homeister and Harry Benson were re-elected to three-year-terms.  The owner alternate is Curtis Mikkelsen, who will serve a one-year term along with trainers Ralph Ziadie and Terry Oliver.

As president, Gordon selected the vice presidents, treasurer, and secretary with board consent. Owners Combest and John Penn, and trainer Tim Ritvo, are vice presidents for 2010. Barry Rose is treasurer, and Teresa Palmer secretary.
