New Hampshire Senate Passes VLT Legislation

The New Hampshire Senate March 24 passed legislation authorizing video lottery terminals at six locations, including Rockingham Park.

The bill, which passed on a 14-10 vote, would also allow VLTs at two Greyhound tracks. It allows for up to 17,000 VLTs, and table games for an additional licensing fee. The first $50 million it raises would restore cuts to social service programs.

State Sen. Lou D’Allesandro, the prime sponsor, led the fight to pass the bill and send it to the House, where passage could be difficult.

Rockingham earlier in March announced it wouldn't offer live harness racing this year. The track hasn't held Thoroughbred racing for several years.
