The first condition book of the 2010 Monmouth Park season is now available online at www.monmouthpark.com.

The book covers opening day May 22 through June 20, and is the first look at Monmouth’s refurbished racing schedule. Monmouth officials announced March 9 that racing dates at the Oceanport, N.J. track would be cut nearly in half to provide higher purses and great quality racing.

Average daily purses are expected to near $1 million for the summer season, which runs through Labor Day, Sept. 6.

“We’re giving horsemen and fans their first look at what to expect during the 2010 meet,” said Michael Dempsey, racing secretary for Monmouth Park, in a release. “With our new schedule and record purses, the book should prove very popular for all involved in racing.”

Included in the condition book are maiden special weight races for purses of $75,000, and entry-level allowance events worth $80,000. In 2009, maiden special weight races were run for $38,000, and entry-level allowance races for $41,000. In addition, runners in all races are guaranteed $1,500 to start.

Following opening weekend, Monmouth will race May 29, 30, and 31. Live cards will continue on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the addition of live racing cards on Labor Day and July 5.

After the summer meet, Monmouth will conduct live racing on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 21.
