The Oregon Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association announced the state's champions of 2009 at the annual awards banquet March 13.
According to a release, those honored are as follows:
Older male and Horse of the Year – Ex Mountain Cop, by Ex Marks the Cop, out of Dubakella Mountain, by Kleven. Bred and owned by Maynard Davis and Richard Novak.
2-year-old female – Shame on Rosie, by Seattle Shamus, out of Yorkist Rose, by Irish Tower. Bred by Dr. and Mrs. Jack B. Root, Jr., owned by Gate 2 Wine Racing.
2-year-old male– Smoken Sham, by Seattle Shamus, out of Belle Fourche, by Baquero. Bred and owned by Patrick Cosgrove.
3-year-old female – Forty Dates, by Klinsman, out of Forty Romances, by Forty Niner. Bred by Dr. and Mrs. Jack B. Root, Jr., owned by Ludington and Mitchell.
3-year-old male – Polish Game, by Polish Gift, out of Miss Joy G., by Cisco Road. Bred and owned by William E. Gollan.
Older female – Jimbos Fire Ant, by Baquero, out of Jimbos Valentine, by Crowning Season. Bred and owned by James and Carol Owens.
Broodmare – Forty Romances, by Forty Niner, out of Footy, by Topsider. Owned by Dr. & Mrs. Jack B. Root, Jr., of Oakhurst Thoroughbreds near Newberg.
Sire – Harbor the Gold, by Seeking the Gold, out of Harbor Springs, by Vice Regent. Owned by Neal and Pam Christopherson, Harbor the Gold stands at their Bar C Racing Stables farm near Hermiston.
