A War Front colt became the new price leader in the middle of the afternoon during the first session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March select sale of 2-year-olds in training. The dark bay or brown juvenile went for $275,000 to Satish and Anne Sanan’s Padua Stables, with bloodstock adviser David Ingordo signing the sale ticket March 16 in Central Florida.
Padua purchased recent Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) winner Odysseus for $250,000 at last year’s OBS March auction, and the Sanans are hoping "that lightning will strike twice," Ingordo said.
“He’s a beautiful horse, and he was very well prepared,” Ingordo continued. “He has a great way of going, and he’s a sound-looking horse. We love the stallion, War Front. We’ve got a few shares in him, so that didn’t hurt either. This horse is one of the best colts in the sale, and we’re tickled to have him.”
Produced from the 13-year-old winning Caller I. D. mare Call Your Beau, the colt is a half-brother to the winners Caller Trust (by Trust N Luck) and Noble Truth (by Buddha). He worked an eighth of a mile in :10 3/5.
McKathan Bros., agent, consigned the colt to the OBS auction. All the Rage Partners bought him for $75,000 from Claiborne Farm, agent, at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale.
