The New York Racing Association has unveiled the logo for the 142nd Belmont Stakes (gr. I), the final leg of Thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown.
The 2010 Belmont Stakes logo features the Brooklyn Bridge and a galloping horse and rider superimposed before the New York City skyline. When the bridge opened to traffic in 1883 it was the longest suspension bridge in the world, a fitting juxtaposition to Belmont Park, with the longest dirt track in North America. The logo also features the historic Empire State Building, synonymous with the skyline.
The logo was designed by Eric Johnston of Art Design Studios (www.artdesignstudios.net).
The Belmont will be held June 5. ABC and ESPN will provide live coverage of the day’s events.
