California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced March 5 that actress Bo Derek and television producer and writer David Israel have been reappointed to the California Horse Racing Board.
Both Derek, 53, and Israel, 58, have been on the board since 2008. Derek, a Republican who has been involved in animal rights organizations, is the spokeswoman for the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act since 2003. She resides in Santa Ynez.
Israel, of Los Angeles, has been a television writer and producer since 1973 and was a syndicated newspaper columnist from 1975-1981. As a colmunist, Israel covered the Triple Crown quest of Seattle Slew.
