The following excerpts are from
Women in Racing: In Their Own Words, published in September 2001 by Eclipse Press. By the father-daughter team of John and Julia McEvoy,
Women in Racing is a collection of candid interviews with 18 women who broke into the once predominately male bastion of horse racing. Their honest and moving stories recount the everday challenges they overcame to pursue their dreams. The paths these women took weren't always smooth, but through talent, determination, and hard work, they succeeded. Their stories combine to form a compelling picture of racing behind the scenes and give wonderful insight into the challenges and strides made by women in racing.
