Starcraft Colt Tops Inglis Sale Session

The first portion of the Melbourne Premier Sale concluded in Australia March 3 with a Starcraft colt topping the session at Aust$300,000 (US$270,570).

The colt, consigned by Mill Park, was purchased by Leon McDonald.

Inglis & Son reported that the three sessions comprising the first part of the sale, which continues March 4, resulted in 396 horses being sold for gross of Aust$28,418,500 (US$25,630,600). The average price of Aust$71,764 (US$64,724) represented a 30% gain of the same sale one year ago, according to a release from Inglis & Son. The clearance rate also improved as 79% of the horses going through the ring were sold.

"Vendors at this sale have continued to offer outstanding prospects and we are very pleased to see them rewarded with the results that have unfolded here over the past three days," Inglis director Peter Heagney said in a release.
