End Sweep Colt Brings $95,000 At OBS

A colt by End Sweep sold for $95,000 on Thursday to top the third open session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's August yearling sale. Marion G. Montanari bought the bay colt out of the 8-year-old winning Smile mare Susie Smile, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Lady Summerhill (by Bold Ruckus). The colt was consigned by Cloverleaf Farms II, as agent.
Kinsman Farm went to $50,000 for a colt from the first crop of the stallion Diligence out of the 13-year-old unraced Court Trial mare Vany's Court. The colt was consigned by Platinum Equine, as agent. His dam is a half-sister to stakes winner and stakes producer Miss Running Vany (by Runaway Groom).
Gail Pickering paid in identical $50,000 for a filly by Regal Search out of the winning 15-year-old Bucksplasher mare Youneverletmedown. Summerfield, as agent, consigned the chestnut filly, a full sister to graded stakes winner Crown Jewel.
For the day, 175 yearlings brought a total of $1,562,800, compared with 182 yearlings bringing $1,513,300 at the third open session a year ago. The average price was $8,930, a 7.4% increase over the $8,315 average at the corresponding session a year ago while the median price $5,200 compared with $5,600 in 2000. The buyback percentage was 28.6%, compared with 30% last year.
