Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort is having a hard time getting its 2010 meet under way.
Under an agreement with horsemen, the West Virginia track opted to open March 1 this year and not race in January and February. But the lingering effects of a harsh winter have taken their toll.
Racing opening night was canceled after two races because of track conditions, and the entire March 2 program was canceled for the same reason.
The next live racing program is scheduled for March 5. The facility remains open for full-card simulcasts.
