Two yearlings sired by Redoute's Choice shared top honors when sold for Aust$400,000 ($359,228) each at the March 2 second session of the Melbourne Premier Sale being conducted by Inglis & Son in Australia.
Bill Mitchell signed the ticket on a Redoute’s Choice filly produced from the group II winner Maze, consigned by Bellerive Stud. A Redoute’s Choice colt produced from the U.S.-bred mare Oceanette was purchased for $400,000 by Dean Hawthorne from the Arrowfield consignment.
Overall, the sale continued to show strength, with the sales company reporting 132 horses sold for gross receipts of $10,418,000 (US$9,356,080) and an average of Aust$78,924 (US$70,879).
The clearance rate, reflecting the percentage sold, was 79% for the day.
"While the results are a positive reflection on the state of the market, they are also a glowing endorsement for the growth and internationaliztion of the Melbourne Premier Sale," said Inglis managing director Mark Webster.
