Johnson is the former head coach of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and a retired NBA professional basketball player who won a world championship while playing for the San Antonio Spurs. Instead of focusing on his sports achievements at the Chaplaincy dinner, however, Johnson will be talking about how his faith and family are the center of his life.
Also appearing at the dinner will be Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day, who won the 1992 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) aboard Lil E. Tee, as well as other horseracing notables.
The evening will also include a live and silent auction of unusual horseracing memorabilia, sports tickets, and other items of interest. Tickets are $150 per person, and tables for eight are $1,200. Various levels of sponsorship are also available and impact the level of services that the non-profit ministry is able to provide to track workers.
