Matthews Keep, a 26-year-old son of Summing, was euthanized Feb. 20 at Nanci Cook’s Skywatcher Farm near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, because of age related health issues.
Matthews Keep won nine races and placed in 22 others from 61 starts and earned $356,271. In 1988, he placed in four graded stakes, including the Salvator Mile Handicap (gr. III) behind Slew City Slew and Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Bet Twice.
As a stallion, Matthews Keep sired 16 winners, including six-figure earner Aria’s Diva.
Matthews Keep was produced from the Grey Dawn II mare Hang Together.
