Fasig-Tipton has 223 entries for its 2010 Texas 2-year-old in training sale at Lone Star Park March 30. The sale begins at 10:00 a.m. The under-tack show will be held March 28 on the main track at 10 a.m.
“Our numbers are very close to 2009 levels,” said Tim Boyce, director of sales for the company’s Southwest division, in a release. “That’s bucking a trend for most auctions, and it’s one of several positive signs for us.
“Our sales graduates had a great year in 2009, particularly on the stakes scene, and they’ve started this racing year on a high note with such productive runners as 2009 graduate Tin Top Cat, who is now four-for-five in stakes company after winning the Two Altazano Texas Stallion Stakes (at Sam Houston Race Park) over the weekend (Feb. 20).
“The pending new ownership of Lone Star Park has brought stability to the racing picture here, with the thought it will encourage beneficial change for owners and trainers on this circuit,” Boyce added. “Racing in neighboring Louisiana is going very well and nearly one-third of the 2-year-olds in the 2010 catalog are eligible for that program. Our sires include many national standouts, both proven and first-crop, and leading sires in the Southwest, as always, are well represented.”
Catalogs will be available from all Fasig-Tipton offices Feb. 23rd and may now be viewed online at the company’s website www.fasigtipton.com.
