The Association of Racing Commissioners International has scheduled its annual meeting and conference for April 12-14 in Lexington.
The conference will feature open sessions at which industry issues will be discussed, as well as a Model Rules Committee meeting and joint meeting of the RCI Drug Testing Standards and Practices Committee and Racing Medication and Testing Consortium.
RCI, in a flyer announcing the conference, said 2010 will be a year of “tremendous challenges” for the racing industry. The organization didn't paint a pretty picture.
“As a deepening economic crisis threatens the survival of horse and dog racing, limited government revenues challenge the ability of regulatory jurisdictions to safeguard the public and meet their statutory obligations,” the statement said.
The medication and drug-testing meeting will be held April 12. An equine welfare forum will be held April 13 along with meetings on model rules and wagering security. On April 14, an industry round table will be held followed by the RCI board of directors meeting.
The RCI Conference on Racing and Wagering Integrity will be held at the Lexington Downtown Hilton Hotel and Conference Center. Registration information is available at www.arci.com.
