Trainer Jay Robbins is ecstatic about Tiznows return to the track in the $500,000 Woodward Stakes (gr. I) Sept. 8 at Belmont.

The son of Cee's Tizzy, who capped off a terrific late rush as a 3-year-old with a victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), skipped over the Del Mar ground in a blazing 1:35.30. He galloped out 1 1/8 miles in 1:48.40 and was finally pulled up, with the help of an outrider. The Del Mar clockers stopped their watches for 1 1/4 miles at 2:02.80.

Regular rider Chris McCarron was in the irons for the 9:15 work. He'll be there again next Thursday when Robbins expects to send his charge another mile as the final tune-up for the Woodward.

Tiznow is scheduled to ship to New York on August 31, due to flight schedules. "We usually ship four to five days ahead of a race," he said. "This is eight days out."

Of the way the colt is training, Robbins said, "He's good right now, but he's going to have to be," in a reference to running 1 1/8 miles after being off since March against top Eastern competition, including Albert the Great on his favorite track.
